What is the role of rhinovirus infection in the development of childhood asthma? Nicole Maison (Dept. for Allergology, Dr. von Haunersches Kinderspital, German Center for Lung Research, (DZL) and Institute for Asthma and Allergy Prevention (IAP), Helmholtz Munich) has been awarded the Johannes Wenner Research Prize for her research in this area.

The prize, worth EUR 15,000, is awarded annually by the Society for Pediatric Pneumology and the Deutsche Lungenstiftung e.V. The award ceremony took place in March 2023 as part of the 44th annual conference of the Society for Pediatric Pneumology in Frankfurt.

The Johannes Wenner Research Prize is aimed at physicians and scientists who work on topics of pediatric pneumology both in the clinical area and in the basic area. The aim is to improve the care and treatment of children with lung diseases.
